Santa Clara students talked straight about being gay this weekend at the annual Drag Show. Participants shined, comfortable in their own skin, as they performed harmlessly risque routines, vibing off the crowd’s cheers and showing a more fun side of the LGBT community.
There is an epidemic spreading through the population of young men in our country. It’s grabbing them by the short-hairs and not letting them go. This unforgiving plague has even made some of our fellow Broncos its victims.
It is easy to ignore privilege when you are on the receiving end of it. A three-week program at Santa Clara aims to focus on the issue of privilege within students’ lives without trying to guilt or shame anyone, but instead, by inspiring students to be allies and empowered individuals.
