Following a four game shutout streak, the men’s soccer team dropped last Friday’s game at home, losing a tight match against California State University, Fullerton 1-0.
The game puts the team at 4-2-1 on the season.
After a close first half, Fullerton took the lead with a well-executed goal in the 67th minute. Santa Clara rallied with a few strong offensive attacks in the last 15 minutes of the game.
Freshman forward Carlos Delgadillo attempted to tie the game with three minutes left with a shot off a Santa Clara corner kick that was saved by the Fullerton goalie.
Santa Clara is 11-8-2 in the all-time series against Fullerton, while Fullerton has ended two of the Broncos’ winning streaks.
The men’s team returned to Buck Shaw Stadium yesterday to face local rival University of California, Berkeley.
