Students will 'blog' freshman experience
This year, five Santa Clara freshmen will write blogs, or online journals, about their first year experiences.
The goal of the blogs is to provide prospective students with a firsthand account of what the freshman experience at Santa Clara is all about, according to the Office of Communication and Marketing.
Freshmen were told about the opportunity to write the blogs during summer orientation sessions. Over 50 applications were received for only five available spots.
The winners were chosen based on an application that included writing samples, the geographic location the student was from, academic major, and what RLC the student was involved in.
The blogs are updated weekly, and will include pictures and text. For the blogs, the five students were given digital cameras to update the blogs with, which they will be allowed to keep.
The Office of Communication and Marketing also hopes that the blogs will eventually include sound feeds and podcasts that prospective students could listen to on their computers or MP3 players.
The five students will continue to update the blogs through the summer and next year.
All blog entries are available online at www.scu.edu/blogscu.
