Web update: Charges dismissed in Dec. knife incident

All charges against sophomore Peter Qaqundah have been dismissed from the December incident where a student was threatened with a knife, authorities said.

Qaqundah's charge, a misdemeanor for possessing a weapon on a college campus, was dismissed by the District Attorney's office, said Amy Cornell, a Santa Clara County District Attorney spokeswoman.

The charged stemmed from Dec. 2, when police arrested Qaqundah and sophomore Can Turkmen after a student was threatened in Swig Hall with a knife, police said. Qaqundah did not possess a knife, but rather a box cutter, police said.
