Bound 2 Seek Attention

Kanye West is a bully and narcissist

From the second he grabbed the notorious microphone on the stage of the VMA’s, Kanye West has made it known he has something to say. But, his so-called revolutionary statements cause more destruction than enlightenment. Kanye West, now just “Ye,” is a narcissist looking to denigrate anybody who he feels is below him.

On October 3rd, Ye held a surprise fashion show during Paris Fashion Week featuring his Yeezy Season 9 collection. The most surprising aspect of the fashion show was not the last-minute invitations, but rather the oversized shirt Ye wore. It had an image of Pope John Paul II on the front and, on the back, “White Lives Matter” – a hate symbol regarded as a white supremacist phrase

Regardless of the real “message” Ye was trying to get across, the shirt and its slogan were projected around the world as a vile statement with one meaning: hate.

To explain the motivations behind the shirt and the ideological war that threatens to silence him, Ye was interviewed by Tucker Carlson, a Fox News reporter known for his conservative platform.

“It just feels right,” Ye said. “It was funny.”

The punchline never landed, as a phrase that disparages a whole community is not a laughing matter. Rightfully, Ye was met with shock, horror and anger to the point where some walked out of the show, including Jaden Smith.

Black people being murdered is not a fashion statement. The Black Lives Matter Movement that Ye undermined and continues to undermine is not a knock-knock joke either. This slogan is an attack on the Black community, the community that Ye ironically belongs to.

Ye compares the debut of his “brilliant” fashion statement to Tonya Harding’s triple axel, equating himself to a figure-skating star. Whether or not you believe he is a genius as he so proclaims, referring to oneself as a genius tends to weaken the apparent truth of the statement.

Kanye goes on to compare wearing the vulgar shirt at the fashion show to standing in front of tanks in Tiananmen Square, referencing the 1989 Tiananmen Square Protests that resulted in the death of thousands. The only war is with himself as he belittles his supposed dedication to improving the lives of Black children and the Black community. Unfortunately, this trend is not something new for Ye.

Ye has a pattern of posting racist comments and going on Twitter rants disparaging certain persons or groups like his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, singer and rapper Lizzo and, more recently, Jewish people. Specifically, Ye tweeted that “when I wake up I’m going defcon 3” on Jewish people, which subsequently got his account locked.

Not only does Ye have a history of Twitter rants, but he also has a history of offensive comments in interviews. In 2018, in an interview with TMZ, Ye made the disgusting comment that “400 years” of slavery “sounds like a choice.” In the aforementioned Fox interview, Ye criticized the body-positive movement by referring to the public support of Lizzo’s weight as “demonic” because promoting “unhealthiness” is a “genocide of the Black race.”

Ye promotes hate but is too wrapped up in his delusional ideas of spreading a revelation to realize it. Ye is simply tone-deaf.

His bank account and fame have developed this mentality of being above everyone, including the Black community he is a part of. His victim complex convinces him that he’s being attacked and blinds him to those affected by his statements.

Ye is not a misunderstood genius brooding in a corner. He is a bully who attacks people who hold less “power” in his eyes – women, Black people and Jewish people.
