Interfaith dating next topic in student conversation series
The ethics of interfaith dating will be discussed during a student-run event on Monday at 6 p.m. in Kennedy Commons.
The event is the third in a series of student conversations on "Faith, Sex and Ethics," hosted by senior Jessica Coblentz as a part of her Hackworth Fellowship under the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics.
To begin the evening, three student panelists will give ten-minute presentations, including Adi Raz, a Jewish student; Umang Desai, a Hindu student; and Tara Mehdipour, a Muslim student.
The presentations will cover four main areas: faith, personal experiences, inter-generational views and dating vs. marriage.
"The goal of the afternoon's discussion is not to speak on behalf of a tradition as much as it is about the process of religious reflection and ethical discernment among SCU students of faith," Coblentz stated in an e-mail.
