Speeding Bullets

Tiger Woods had laser eye surgery last week, just a few days before one of the last tournaments of the season. That should really help him compete on the tour and, with any luck, maybe he'll actually win a few tournaments next year. (Hint, sarcasm.)
Boxing has sunk to a new low, once again proving this "sport" to be an incredible sham. Mike Tyson made his return (yes, again) to the ring and his opponent, Orlin Norris, quit after the first round, claiming a bad knee. This was after a blow by Tyson clearly after the bell. However, for all of his three minutes of work, Norris earned roughly $200,000. Boxing will continue to be seen incredibly negatively as long as shady promoters are involved.
Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez has proven to be an incredible big game pitcher, fresh off his spectacular performance in game one of the World Series. I would take him over just about any other pitcher, alive or dead, in a must-win game. Soon every team will have a Cuban on their pitching staff.
It's time for baseball to break down and finally allow Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame. The man has been punished for 10 years. Hey, if Lawrence Taylor, a known cocaine user throughout his career and in retirement, can find his way into pro football's Hall of Fame, why can't Rose have his due? Even in baseball, Ty Cobb was said to be one of the worst racists anyone ever met. It seems like Rose just picked the wrong vice. Pro sports are telling us, "Drugs are fine, racism is even better, but whatever you do, don't gamble." That's ridiculous.
The NFL has turned into the MFL - the Mediocre Football League. Gone are the days of the dominant teams: the bruising Steelers, the precision of the 49ers, and the swagger of the Cowboys. In fact, no one really knows who's going to win from week to week this year. The games are close and sometimes even exciting, but the quality of play is at a low I've never seen. But, this is what the league wanted - a .500 team in every city. I can't wait for that exciting St. Louis - Tennessee Super Bowl.
The 49ers have fallen on hard times. In fact, they're no longer the best team in the Bay area. They'd have a tough time beating De La Salle High School of Concord right now.
