At the annual state of the university address, President Fr. Michael Engh, S.J., announced to the Santa Clara community that the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve both women’s and gender studies and ethnic studies as standalone majors.

The Broncos picked up a big home win against the struggling San Diego Toreros, narrowly defeating them 74-71, in a close heart-pounding game.

On Thursday, the Broncos dropped an 84-67 contest to WCC powerhouse Gonzaga (16-5), in Spokane. On Saturday, the team defeated the Portland Pilots (9-15, 3-8) 90-84 extending their record to 8-15 overall and 4-7 in WCC games.

The Broncos’ disappointing season continued last Thursday against the University of San Francisco, as the team dropped the game 74-61, falling to 7-14 (3-6 WCC) on the season.

Jared Brownridge has proven his dominance on the court. A junior guard, averages 19.4 points per game, which accounts for 30 percent of the team’s total scoring. He is on pace to become the second-leading scorer in Santa Clara history, behind Kevin Foster, who graduated in 2013.
