All week, bloodthirsty critics have devoured “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” spat it back out and described what an awful taste it left in their mouths. At first, it seemed like they were opportunistically going after low-hanging fruit. But after seeing “Batman v Superman” myself, I realized that I am not above these other critics.

When Morgan Freeman ripped open an envelope and announced that “Spotlight” won Best Picture at the 88th Academy Awards, Santa Clara alumnus Blye Pagon Faust earned cinema’s highest honor.

But when the credits rolled 106 minutes later, I felt like I had wasted an eternity on an overstuffed, aimless, meaningless disaster of a movie. Simply put, it is the worst film the Coen Brothers have ever made.
