[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t took a team of over 200 people and an 18 month timeline, but Santa Clara’s new website is finally here.

The website, which will go live at 6:00 a.m., will contain features about students and faculty members and will discuss ongoing university research projects, according to Christine Crandell, the interim associate vice president of the Office of Marketing and Communications.

“Santa Clara wants the site to engage as well as inform, to become a destination by sharing exciting news that inspires prospective students, alumni, faculty and donors to become and stay involved with the Santa Clara University,” Crandell said.

Santa Clara aimed to be very mobile-friendly while reconstructing the site. Nearly a quarter of all visitors who come to the university’s website access it through mobile devices, according to Bill Herndon, director of web communications at Santa Clara.

The new website, which features over 17,000 pages, will have three navigation areas on every page. These will include tabs for users based on visitor identity (e.g. students, faculty, visitors), as well as a right hand navigation bar and tabs to navigate through specific areas of the university (e.g. admissions, academics, athletics).

In March 2016 the university hopes to further improve the site’s functionality and continue developing sub-pages so as to boost page views and better meet visitor needs, according to Crandell.

Crandell said that students have no need to panic about accessing ecampus and email, since login credentials for the Santa Clara network will not change.

To address questions and concerns, a team from the Office of Marketing and Communications will table in Benson on Jan. 19 and 20.
