Women's lacrosse stands atop coach's poll

With a No. 1 ranking in the Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates Coach's Poll, the women's club lacrosse team is paving their way to a national championship run.

Santa Clara recorded 11 straight victories to open up the season, putting them in the spotlight instantly.

Despite their hot-streak, the Broncos were unable to keep UC Davis from snapping their perfect record after falling 16-17 in double-overtime.

The loss puts the Broncos behind UC Davis in their Division at 11-1 overall.

Senior Krista Shaw is competing with focus. Only 12 games in, Shaw has netted 46 goals and accounted for 11 assists. On the defensive end, junior goalie Eligio Renee is standing strong between the goal posts. Renee has faced 188 attempted shots on the season, and has blocked 114 of them.

Next stop for Santa Clara is St. Louis, Mo. where they will face off against the University of Michigan on Saturday.
