Mosier wins in runoff

Chris Mosier and running mate Ngunguyen Le defeated Winston Yu and his running mate Blake Martini in last Thursday's runoff election.

The Associated Student Government elections were held last Tuesday, but the Student Body President race was too close to name a clear winner. As a result, a runoff was held between the two tickets.

Shortly after midnight Friday morning, Mosier, Le and sophomore senate chair candidate Briana Britton were in front of the Mission Church awaiting news on the runoff. Britton received a call that she did not receive the bid while Mosier and Le waited.

A few minutes later they received a call from this year's Student Body Vice President Katherine Quinn-Shea, finding out they won.

"All of a sudden it hit us, like here we go, let's do this," Mosier said.

According to Quinn-Shea, Mosier received 81 more votes than Yu -- Mosier with 54.35 percent of the vote and Yu with 45.65 percent.

"It was pretty close the whole time from what I understand," Mosier said.

Robert Leupp, Britton's runoff opponent in the Sophomore Senate Chair runoff received 54.79 percent of votes, compared to Britton's 45.21 percent.

After finding out about the win, Mosier said he wasted no time in getting to work. He plans to meet with the athletics department and Lindsey Cromwell of the Office of Sustainability this week. Mosier and Le have also started communication to get their Adopt-A-Class program kicked off, their highest priority.

"What now?" Mosier said. "Here we go. It's time to get to work and to get going with our campaign promises."

"It's a good feeling," Mosier said about winning. "I'm still a student here though -- life goes on. I recognize the responsibility of the position, but I also recognize I'm just a student like everybody else."

Business fraternities display proper etiquette

This Monday, Alpha Kappa Psi and Delta Sigma Pi will be jointly hosting an etiquette dinner for students of all majors, but specifically those in the business school.

The event is being held in the Williman Room in Benson Memorial Center from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 10.

Attendees of the event will be given advice on how to improve their etiquette by well-known etiquette coach Sharyn Kennedy Amoroso.

Aside from the etiquette tips, attendees will also be able to look forward to listening to a talk from Natalia Velez, the Financial Business Manager at Cisco Systems. She is expected to talk about marketing, recruiting and the importance of good etiquette in the business world.

This will be the second etiquette dinner of current school year. The Career Center held one earlier in the year but this dinner is expected to provide a new viewpoint on etiquette.

Tickets were on sale in Benson Memorial Center this past week, and will be available in Lucas Hall today and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tickets cost $17 and can be purchased with cash or flex.
