Ultimate Sound: Interlude means music from the heart

By Lizet Llamas

Innerlude's independent single "I Don't Wanna Go On " received continuous airplay on the West Coast and sold over 28,000 copies. The group followed with two more singles, "You Can't See Me" featuring rapper E-40 and their current single, "I Like Your Smile" featuring reggae/rappers Tanto Metro and Devonte.Last month, Innerlude released their debut album Music Within. The 19-track album is a combination of the musical sounds unique to Innerlude's style."We've created our own sound," James said. "People tell us that we sound a lot different, yet the same."This is the type of CD one can listen to over and over again because it caters to a variety of audiences while preserving the RandB flow.

"We don't want to be known as just one type of vocal group," Eric said. " We do all different types of music."The group says the album is easy to relate to because it conveys emotions everyone has experienced. It is evident the trio pours all their emotions into their music. Listening to Innerlude is not just hearing but experiencing what they are singing. In songs like "I Don't Wanna Go On," one can feel the heartache of the singer.

The group name emphasizes the trio's devotion to their music."Innerlude means music within," Cyrus said. He further explained that Eric came up with the name Innerlude by replacing the 't" in interlude with an "n" forming Innerlude. "Innerlude means something from us that we want to give to you," James said.Innerlude holds true to their name giving their audience what they demand, great music with strong vocals. In fact, the group is strongly against lip singing because they feel the act robs the audience and performers of true talent."When one sings live, it brings something new," James said. "It makes it more personal."Innerlude is talented both live and in the studio, a difficult combination for many artists. For more information on Innerlude visit their website at http://www.innerlude.com.
